The City of St. Anthony might just be one of the most unique and historic cities in the metro. Two-thirds of the city is located in Hennepin County while the remaining one-third is located in Ramsey County. Despite being just 2.35 square miles total, St. Anthony’s historical importance towers over many larger cities. Originally part of the Louisiana Purchase, most of St. Anthony was eventually annexed by the City of Minneapolis. Like much of the region, the area thrived mostly on lumber, grain milling, shipping and farming trade.
Fast forward to today and St. Anthony is still a thriving community of about 8,400 people with a village feel nestled in a 3.35 million person metropolitan area. The St. Anthony housing market has generally outperformed in most categories. St. Anthony has virtually zero new construction activity.
